Goodbye Uncle Charlie aka the Legend. I will never forget the time when you and Auntie Joan were visiting the UK in the early 1980’s. As you saw me off on the train at Paddington - I was heading back to university- you sidled up to me quietly and handed me a note saying in your fabulous Glaswegian accent, ‘here’s 20 quid, buy you’s and Willy (my future husband Will you always called ‘Willy’) a drink’.
20 quid !! I had never even seen a £20 note before!! As an impoverished student I was a very grateful indeed. This is just a silly example of your generosity of spirit and kindness to everyone, a very rare quality to which most of us can only aspire. We were lucky to have you for so long RIP

In loving memory of you, dear Uncle Charlie, thank you for your love and kindness. I treasure the wonderful childhood memories of the time I had with you, Aunty Joan, Andy and Nicki in Cambridge. I'm eternally grateful that my husband John got to meet you on one of your visits to England, you will always be in our hearts.
Rest peacefully knowing you are loved and deeply missed.

Charlie, you will be remembered as a warm and generous man. As one of Andy's mates when we were fractious teenagers playing footy at Thornlie, I recall your unwavering support and kindness during a formative part of our lives. You were always there when we needed you most. Rest easy, knowing that there was no more love that you could have given.

Charlie, you are captured in our minds. The upbeat person whom we have spent time together while visiting Perth as newly weds in Christmas 1997. Someone who loved life to its full, enjoyed all kinds of activities, food and drink and followed adventure quietly but firmly. During our visit, you gifted your hat, which you were wearing in this photo. I, Bashak, still have that hat as one of my most cherished possessions and a memory of you. We had the opportunity to see you one last time in 2013 in Cambridge when you came to visit us. We count ourselves lucky for that. You will always live in our memories.
