To our Uncle Derek - so many fond memories come to mind of time spent with you.
You always loved your cricket and that love of the game was passed onto myself, Ryan and Callum, always being up for a hit in the backyard or down in the nets at the local Crimea Park. Often it was a highlight when our Uncle Derek would take us to the deli for ice-creams, on a hot Saturday afternoon across the road from Nanna Baker's house. You had also taught us the trick of holding the ice cream popsticks on the side or upside down, so we wouldn't have melted ice-cream all over our clothes in the scorching Perth heat.
I always loved your sense of humour, much like our Grandad (although arguably with much more class). There was never a dull moment with our Uncle who always had such a positive outlook on life, full of fun and laughter. It was a lot of fun hearing your stories - particularly the ones of you and Grandad getting up to mischief in your youth!
We will miss you Derek, but ultimately glad that you are at peace now with the Lord. I'm looking forward to another cricket game when we see each other again. As you would've put it - 'he had a good innings, 82 not out!'
Prayers are with the Baker family during this time of grieving. All our love from Jarrad, Lauren, Eli & Violet.
