Michael Austin (Biff) on 22 July, 2025 at 9:57am (AWST)
Sincerest condolences to the Rowlingson family. Michael (Lurch) was a much loved member of the Royal MilitaryCollege - Duntroon, Bridges Company (Bridges Kids). Lurch had a larger than life personality, a quick wit, was always first to lend a hand and was the quintessential gentle giant. I remember sharing so many fun, character building times with him. On a kayaking course we undertook together, we were issued bivey bags for sleeping - something completely new for me. I woke screaming in the middle of the night as I wasn’t sure where I was and could not get out of the bag. Michael was there in no time to open up my bag and let me know that all was ok. Lurch went on to serve with others from Bridges Company in Somalia and other theatres. We also lost four of our best mates at RMC in a plane crash and one other in a car crash which I remember talking to Lurch about a few years ago and expressing how much we missed them.
Rest in Peace Lurch, you will be greatly missed.

Matthew Smith on 22 July, 2025 at 6:12am (AWST)
Heartfelt condolences to the Rowlingson family from the Smith family.
Michael is fondly and well remembered by all of us.
I was fortunate enough as a young man at and after school to laugh with Darcy, do theatre with him, hug him, fight with him, get into trouble with him, get the strap with him, drink at the Castle with him, get knocked back by girls with him, celebrate with him and watch Robocop for the first time with him at a seminary in 1989 with Brendan, Christian and Steve.
Life took us in different directions mate but we will meet again.

When I heard the news of your passing, a part of my heart broke. Our love story may have ended, but my memories of you, Michael, will last forever. Your presence was like a warm blanket on a cold day, and your laughter was a melody that could chase away any shadow.
May your spirit soar high and find the peace you deserve. One of a kind and loved too much ever to be forgotten
My thoughts are with you, Barbara, Daryl, Sandra, Kirsten, and Louise, in this darkest of times.

We are sending so much love to you Babs, Daz, Sandy, Kirty and Lou as you navigate this heartbreaking loss. Michael will always be fondly remembered in our little corner of the Cracknell Road crew as a kind, caring soul with an unforgettable way of storytelling. May he rest peacefully, and may you find comfort in knowing his spirit lives on in your lives through Arnie, your new 4 legged friend, and the love Michael leaves behind.

Damien Barnes on 21 July, 2025 at 3:09pm (AWST)
On behalf of the Barnes family I'd like to express my deepest condolences to Michael's family and friends, especially to Daryl, Barbara, Sandy, Kirsten, and Louise.
I have many fond childhood & school memories of Michael, but mostly of days spent shooting at the rifle range, and of the many adventures we had on our BMX bikes, getting up to mischief around our Ekibin & Annerley neighbourhoods.
Farewell Darcy. May you Rest In Peace!
❤
